1915: No fightback for Barca today though. They were unbeaten at home in La Liga last season but they have just been beaten 2-0 by Hercules. Better news for Inter Milan, though, and former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez - he's just picked up his first win in Serie A courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Udinese.
1911: That's it, it's all over. What a game. Burnley trailed 3-1 with just six minutes to go but ended up winning 4-3. Chris Iwelumo scores a hat-trick for the Clarets and Billy Jones is sent off for Preston. Incredible stuff, and it all turned on that red card.
1908: As SUFCBlade points out below, Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United side conceded two injury-time goals as Everton fought back to draw 3-3 earlier today. Now Sir Alex's son Darren has seen his Preston side is about to go one better (well, worse really) by seeing a 3-1 lead turn into a 4-3 defeat.

1855: Former England manager Steve McClaren enjoyed his time in the Netherlands with FC Twente, winning the Dutch title last season. It's not really happened for him since he took charge of German side Wolfsburg in the summer, though, and he is still looking for his first win of the season after today's 2-0 defeat by Borussia Dortmund. I wonder if he's got a German accent yet?
1854: Er, it's all gone a bit crazy at Turf Moor, especially for Preston's Billy Jones. He has just been shown a second yellow card for time-wasting, about 60 seconds after he was lucky to escape punishment for what appeared to be a diving save with his arm in the area from Jack Cork's header. North End must play the last 12 minutes or so with 10 men.
1850: It's just been pointed out to me that 'The Beast' scored past 'The Beast' for that last Preston goal - both PNE striker Jon Parkin and Clarets keeper Brian Jensen are both big lads and both share the same (less than complimentary) nickname. I'm pretty sure Parkin hasn't had a sausage named after him though... not yet, anyway.
1845: Burnley are still pressing, and seeing a lot of the ball through substitutes Jack Cork and Chris Eagles, but Preston are holding out comfortably enough. In fact, as I finish writing that last sentence, they have just broken forward to score a third goal - Adam Barton wins the ball back, Keith Treacy crosses from the left and Jon Parkin is in the right place in front of goal to sidefoot it home. North End lead 3-1 at Turf Moor.

1834: Almost a route-one equaliser from Burnley, as Chris Iwelumo runs on to a Brian Jensen clearance but smacks his volley against his team-mate Ross Wallace who, for some reason has run straight in front of him. The Clarets are pushing hard at the moment, though, and Preston are having to do a lot of defending.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle on Gary Cahill's red card in his side's defeat by Arsenal: "We started the second half really well and I thought we were in the ascendency and even at 2-1, I thought we were still in the game. My initial reaction was the foul was a free-kick or a yellow card, but it didn't seem to me a red card. Against Arsenal it's difficult enough playing 11 v 11 let alone 11 against 10. But we should have defended better as a team with 10 men."
1810: Hmmm, Javier Mascherano is not having a very good day. He was substituted at half-time, and replaced by Xavi as Barca mount a salvage mission at Camp Nou.

1757: Preston seem to have silenced the home fans at Turf Moor, well most of them anyway. The rest seemed to be having a bit of a pop at their own side - North End are well on top as we approach half-time.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp on seeing his side held by West Brom: "For 40 minutes we completely dominated but we did seem to run out of steam a bit at the end."

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti after two Michael Essien goals helped his top-of-the-table side beat West Ham to continue their 100% winning start to the season: "Essien has started very well this season. He's come back from injury and has been fantastic. We were lucky to go up 2-0, one was a corner-kick and the second goal was a fluke for Salomon Kalou. West Ham played a good game and tried to come back."

1748: Preston have been on top since drawing level and they have just got their reward. Keith Treacy, who hit the woodwork a few moments ago, rounds off a neat move with low angled shot that hits the post and bounces in, and North End have the lead. That was a quality finish.

1742: They got a big call right for Burnley's goal but since then the officials have not covered themselves in glory at Turf Moor. Firstly, Simon Treacy is flagged offside when he timed his run to perfection and then Adam Barton clearly handles the ball before firing home North End's equaliser. All-square then and, as you might expect from a Lancashire derby, this is turning into a pretty feisty encounter - the tackles have been flying in.
FULL-TIME: Newcastle 0-2 Blackpool Jon Barbuti's full-time report: "Blackpool ride their luck at times and keeper Matt Gilks is superb, but Newcastle will reflect on an inability to turn possession into gilt-edged chances."
1738: As RikBrkr points out below, I think we should all remember how well Burnley started last season, including that win over Manchester United at Turf Moor of course, and we know what happened next. Still, my message to Blackpool (that's the town, the club and their fans!) after their stunning start would be "enjoy it, and let's hope it lasts".

38 mins: It's all happening at Goodison Park. Tony Hibbert has had to change his shorts (not sure why) and Mikel Arteta crashes a free-kick into the wall and then fouls Ryan Giggs as he tries to break clear.
Numbers Ian: There's two Football League going on at the moment, both in the Championship, and there have been goals in both games. Coventry are ahead at Leicester, after substitute Michael McIndoe delivers a superb left wing cross and Clive Platt powerfully heads home his first goal for the club. And Sheffield United lead Derby after good work from Jamie Ward sets up Richard Cresswell who pokes the ball past Stephen Bywater to put the Blades ahead.
33 mins: Clever stuff by United, and a brilliant save by Tim Howard. Nani rolls the free-kick into the path of Paul Scholes, who smashes in a low drive that hits at least one defender but is somehow kept out by the outstretched leg of Howard, who cannot have seen much of the ball.
32 mins: Man Utd's turn to have a free-kick in a dangerous position. Tony Hibbert slides in on Ryan Giggs on the edge of the area and referee Martin Atkinson decides he got more of the man than the ball.
29 mins: Another chance for Everton. The ball drops for Leighton Baines on the edge of the box but he rather rushes his shot and scuffs it wide. He had time to take a touch or two. Good news for United - Nani is back on the field.
27 mins: There's bit of discussion currently going on BBC Radio 5 Live about Sir Alex Ferguson's explanation about Wayne Rooney's omission today (see 1239ish). Surely that means that, wherever Rooney might get stick in the future, he might not play? Interesting. Anyway, back on the pitch, Leighton Baines crosses for Marouane Fellaini but Nemanja Vidic puts in a timely tackle as the Belgian shapes to shoot.
26 mins: Er no, not yet anyway. Tim Cahill lets fly from 30 yards out but the ball flies harmlessly over the bar.
24 mins: United are briefly down to 10 men because Nani is having a spot of treatment - to a cut lip, I think. Can Everton capitalise?
21 mins: Everton are still having their fair share of possession, mind, but they are not hurting United so much anymore. Mikel Arteta whips in a free-kick from out on the right but United clear their lines.
18 mins: Man Utd threaten again, with a delicious cross by Dimitar Berbatov touched into the path of Nani by Ryan Giggs. Leighton Baines nips in to clear for Everton.
15 mins: I was just about to say United haven't got going yet, but they have now. A decent spell of pressure by the visitors ends with a thunderous shot from John O'Shea from the left-hand side of the area. Tim Howard is nowhere near it, but it smacks the angle of post and bar. A great effort.
11 mins: From the corner, the ball falls for Steven Pienaar inside the area but his shot is blocked and Leon Osman skies the follow-up a mile over the bar. Everton need to make this early pressure count.
10 mins: Man Utd come forward for the first time, through Nani on the right. He gets his cross over in the end, but it's behind his team-mates in the area and comes to nothing. At the other end, Everton work another shooting chance for Mikel Arteta, who sees his effort deflected behind for a corner.
6 mins: Ooof, that was close. Mikel Arteta takes the free-kick and curls his shot goalwards. Edwin van der Sar is there anyhow but the ball skims off the top of the bar and referee Martin Atkinson awards a goal-kick after initially signalling for a corner.
5 mins: Everton are still seeing most of the ball, and Steven Pienaar is looking especially lively. He takes on Gary Neville about 30 yards from goal and is fouled. Everton have a free-kick in a very dangerous position...
2 mins: Neat stuff by Everton, with Steven Pienaar and Leighton Baines combining to give Pienaar a shooting chance in the area... Nemanja Vidic gets across to block the South African's shot. Edwin van der Sar easily collects the resulting corner.

1244: Here's another stat from Infostrada Sports before we get going: United's starting XI has an average age of 30 years and 277 days, which is the first time a team has averaged 30+ in this season's Premier League. It is also only the fifth time in their Premier League history that United have fielded a starting XI averaging over 30. Their oldest was 31 years and 103 days in last season's home defeat by Chelsea.
1243: The players emerge from the tunnel at a cloudy Goodison Park, although there are a couple of patches of blue sky up above. Kick-off is just a couple of minutes away.
1239: Infostrada Sports tell me that David Moyes is up against Sir Alex Ferguson for the 17th time in the Premier League today, the most by any Scottish manager (and one more than Gordon Strachan). How has Moyes got on so far? Er, not too well actually. Moyes has won two, drawn three and lost 11 of their encounters to date. He did come out on top at Goodison Park last season, though, when the Toffees won 3-1.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson explains the omission of Wayne Rooney from his squad to face Everton: "We made the decision simply because Wayne gets terrible abuse here and we're not going to subject him to it. We have got a fantastic squad so we are using it. Wayne will play against Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday."
1229: Here's a bit more Everton team news for you. The Toffees have brought in Johny Heitinga and Leon Osman for Jack Rodwell and Jermaine Beckford. Rodwell is out for three months with an ankle injury of course.

Everton boss David Moyes on how he thinks a win over Manchester United could kick-start his side's season: "It would give us all that belief that we can mix it with the top sides. We feel if we play well we can be a match for any side, and that includes Manchester United. We went into the season with high hopes, rightly so, we had played so well."

1204: Another man spared a hot reception at his former club today is Chelsea's Frank Lampard who, it is fair to say, would not win any popularity contests at Upton Park. Lampard misses out on the Blues' trip to West Ham because of injury but that should still be a feisty encounter, with added spice because it is top versus bottom.
1158: No reason has been given, as of yet, for Rooney's omission but people will no doubt assume it is because he was expected to be given a rough ride by Toffees fans today. I'll bring you more news when I get it.
1154: BREAKING NEWS Football Focus report Wayne Rooney left out of Manchester United's squad to face Everton 1151: At least Wayne Rooney won't be getting any stick off his own fans today. Spare a thought for Tottenham's William Gallas, whose arrival at White Hart Lane following his release by Arsenal in the summer has been so unpopular with supporters that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is considering making the French international captain for his debut at West Brom today, in order to send a clear message to his detractors. "I am deadly serious," said Redknapp.
1147: Er, I'm sure you know of one man who isn't. After his well-documented personal problems, I can't imagine Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is particularly relishing his return to Goodison Park (kick-off at 1245 BST), and I'm pretty sure the Everton faithful will have a very special welcome waiting for him. We shall see.
