1920: And that is me done and dusted too. The football hasn't finished yet - Real Madrid are currently drawing 0-0 with Osasuna - and I'd love to stay with you for that one too, but unfortunately I have to eat and sleep and things before tomorrow, when I'll be back for Birmingham v Liverpool at 1600 BST. Thanks ever so much for keeping me company today, though, and don't forget to watch Match of the Day on BBC One at 2300 BST and the Football League Show straight afterwards at 0020. Enjoy, and see you all very soon. 1915: No fightback for Barca today though. They were unbeaten at home in La Liga last season but they have just been beaten 2-0 by Hercules. Better news for Inter Milan, though, and former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez - he's just picked up his first win in Serie A courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Udinese. 1911: That's it, it's all over. What a game. Burnley trailed 3-1 with just six minutes to go but ended up winning 4-3. Chris Iwelumo scores a hat-trick for the Clarets and Billy Jones is sent off for Preston. Incredible stuff, and it all turned on that red card. 1908: As SUFCBlade points out below, Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United side conceded two injury-time goals as Everton fought back to draw 3-3 earlier today. Now Sir Alex's son Darren has seen his Preston side is about to go one better (well, worse really) by seeing a 3-1 lead turn into a 4-3 defeat. SUFCBlade on Twitter: "I suppose it runs in the Ferguson family... neither father nor son can hold a 3-1 lead!!" 1904: Er, yes there is! The ball is played over from the right and Jay Rodriguez lashes a low shot into the opposite corner of the net. What a comeback from Burnley - they lead 10-men Preston 4-3... but there are still five minutes of injury time to be played. I don't want this game to end. 1902: It was coming, wasn't it? Chris Iwelumo rises to flick a Graham Alexander cross into the corner of the net. That's his hat-trick, and it's now Burnley 3-3 Preston. Time for a winner? 1900: Chris Iwelumo might be famous for missing from about a yard out for Scotland, but the Burnley striker has just hit a stunner to reduce the deficit for Burnley against local rivals Preston, volleying home from the edge of the box (although he might have shinned it a bit) The Clarets trail 10-man North End 3-2, with just over five minutes left - all to play for then... 1855: Former England manager Steve McClaren enjoyed his time in the Netherlands with FC Twente, winning the Dutch title last season. It's not really happened for him since he took charge of German side Wolfsburg in the summer, though, and he is still looking for his first win of the season after today's 2-0 defeat by Borussia Dortmund. I wonder if he's got a German accent yet? 1854: Er, it's all gone a bit crazy at Turf Moor, especially for Preston's Billy Jones. He has just been shown a second yellow card for time-wasting, about 60 seconds after he was lucky to escape punishment for what appeared to be a diving save with his arm in the area from Jack Cork's header. North End must play the last 12 minutes or so with 10 men. 1850: It's just been pointed out to me that 'The Beast' scored past 'The Beast' for that last Preston goal - both PNE striker Jon Parkin and Clarets keeper Brian Jensen are both big lads and both share the same (less than complimentary) nickname. I'm pretty sure Parkin hasn't had a sausage named after him though... not yet, anyway. 1845: Burnley are still pressing, and seeing a lot of the ball through substitutes Jack Cork and Chris Eagles, but Preston are holding out comfortably enough. In fact, as I finish writing that last sentence, they have just broken forward to score a third goal - Adam Barton wins the ball back, Keith Treacy crosses from the left and Jon Parkin is in the right place in front of goal to sidefoot it home. North End lead 3-1 at Turf Moor. From anon via text: "Looking forward to next weeks clash of two teams vying for the Champions League next season. Chelsea and Blackpool." 1834: Almost a route-one equaliser from Burnley, as Chris Iwelumo runs on to a Brian Jensen clearance but smacks his volley against his team-mate Ross Wallace who, for some reason has run straight in front of him. The Clarets are pushing hard at the moment, though, and Preston are having to do a lot of defending. AndySzpuk on Twitter: "The way things are going, I reckon Blackpool would fancy their chances against Barcelona right now..." 1820: The second half has just started at Turf Moor. And here's an update from Camp Nou, where it is now Barcelona 0-2 Hercules. Bolton boss Owen Coyle on Gary Cahill's red card in his side's defeat by Arsenal: "We started the second half really well and I thought we were in the ascendency and even at 2-1, I thought we were still in the game. My initial reaction was the foul was a free-kick or a yellow card, but it didn't seem to me a red card. Against Arsenal it's difficult enough playing 11 v 11 let alone 11 against 10. But we should have defended better as a team with 10 men." 1810: Hmmm, Javier Mascherano is not having a very good day. He was substituted at half-time, and replaced by Xavi as Barca mount a salvage mission at Camp Nou. 1805: Half-time at Turf Moor, in an incident-packed game I hope you are enjoying as much as I am. Preston lead 2-1 after Burnley took an early lead. 1802: And some news of a surprising scoreline from Spain too... Barcelona, with Javier Mascherano making his La Liga debut, are losing 1-0 at home to Hercules. 1757: Preston seem to have silenced the home fans at Turf Moor, well most of them anyway. The rest seemed to be having a bit of a pop at their own side - North End are well on top as we approach half-time. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp on seeing his side held by West Brom: "For 40 minutes we completely dominated but we did seem to run out of steam a bit at the end." FULL-TIME: West Brom 1-1 Tottenham
Jamie Lillywhite's full-time report: "The proverbial game of two halves, Tottenham looking skilful and inventive in the first, West Brom dominating the second and unfortunate not to take all three points with some clear cut chances in the closing stages." Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti after two Michael Essien goals helped his top-of-the-table side beat West Ham to continue their 100% winning start to the season: "Essien has started very well this season. He's come back from injury and has been fantastic. We were lucky to go up 2-0, one was a corner-kick and the second goal was a fluke for Salomon Kalou. West Ham played a good game and tried to come back." FULL-TIME: West Ham 1-3 Chelsea
Sam Sheringham's full-time report: "A superb display from Michael Essien and some sloppy West Ham defending were the key to another routine victory for Chelsea. Avram Grant needs to turn things around quickly for the Hammers but easier opponents lie ahead." 1748: Preston have been on top since drawing level and they have just got their reward. Keith Treacy, who hit the woodwork a few moments ago, rounds off a neat move with low angled shot that hits the post and bounces in, and North End have the lead. That was a quality finish.
olliemicklem on Twitter: "Ian Holloway to be manager of the season and avoid the drop! I'll put my house on it (well my parents' as I live at home)." FULL-TIME: Wigan 1-1 Sunderland
James Standley's full-time report: "Fulham scored a 91st-minute winner through Moussa Dembele to end Wolves' unbeaten start to the Premier League but the win was overshadowed by the broken leg suffered by Bobby Zamora - he'll be out for four months." 1742: They got a big call right for Burnley's goal but since then the officials have not covered themselves in glory at Turf Moor. Firstly, Simon Treacy is flagged offside when he timed his run to perfection and then Adam Barton clearly handles the ball before firing home North End's equaliser. All-square then and, as you might expect from a Lancashire derby, this is turning into a pretty feisty encounter - the tackles have been flying in. FULL-TIME: Newcastle 0-2 Blackpool
Jon Barbuti's full-time report: "Blackpool ride their luck at times and keeper Matt Gilks is superb, but Newcastle will reflect on an inability to turn possession into gilt-edged chances." 1738: As RikBrkr points out below, I think we should all remember how well Burnley started last season, including that win over Manchester United at Turf Moor of course, and we know what happened next. Still, my message to Blackpool (that's the town, the club and their fans!) after their stunning start would be "enjoy it, and let's hope it lasts". FULL-TIME: Wigan 1-1 Sunderland
Les Roopanarine's full-time report: "Wigan continue to amaze: a one-man advantage for most of the match, countless chances, and yet not until the 10-men of Sunderland had taken the lead courtesy of Asamoah Gyan's clinical strike did they manage to find the net, and even then the goal was scored in unlikely fashion."
Fulham manager Mark Hughes on Bobby Zamora: "He's broken his leg just above the ankle. We hopeful he hasn't had an ligament damage. He''ll have an operation tomorrow, but he's out for a minimum of four months, but if it's worse it could be longer. It's a big loss. We won it for him really." 1728: Terrible, terrible news from Craven Cottage. Bobby Zamora has broken his right leg just above the ankle and Fulham boss Mark Hughes says he is out for a minimum of four months. It was Karl Henry who made the tackle that injured the striker. 1725: Preston had made a bright start at Turf Moor but it is Burnley who have just taken the lead. Chris Iwelumo nods home from a corner, and the officials correctly adjudge the ball to have gone over the line. Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini after his side are held at home by Blackburn: "It is a very unlucky moment for us. We are missing six important players. We had 25 chances. We must continue to work very well. All the players played 100% because we wanted to win the game. "It (the goal we let in after a mix-up) can happen but also when we concede a goal like today we must continue to play. Numbers Ian's Football League round-up: "Plenty of good stories today in the Football League. The top four of QPR and Cardiff, who both win at home, and Ipswich and Millwall, who both draw away, stays the same while Portsmouth and Leicester still prop up the table. In League One, Peterborough take over at the top after hammering Oldham 5-2. Carlisle stay second on goal difference after winning at previous leaders Sheffield Wednesday, who drop to sixth, while Bournemouth, Huddersfield and Rochdale fill the other play-off places and managerless Southampton lose again. Torquay regain the leadership of League Two despite a goalless draw with Accrington as previous leaders Shrewsbury lose 2-0 at Gillingham - the Kent club's first win of the season - while Morecambe stay bottom." FULL-TIME: Arsenal 4-1 Bolton
Pranav Soneji's full-time report: "Fresh from a verbal half-time hammering, Arsenal tear Bolton to pieces with three impressive examples of finishing - including the 1000th goal under Arsene Wenger's rein." SisuBlog on Twitter: "Important goal for Fulham, now 'unbeaten in four' rather than 'no win from four'." 1715: We have just got started at Turf Moor. I'll keep across what is happening there, and try to bring you as much reaction as I can from today's Premier League games too. Blackpool boss Ian Holloway after his side's win over Newcastle that sends them fourth in the Premier League: "We rode our luck with some fantastic saves from Matt Gilks but some of that was the best I've seen from my boys. They keep amazing me with hunger and desire and I'm bursting with pride at the moment." From Scott via text: "Now that's an interesting top four! Blackpool v Barcelona at Bloomfield Road next year?" 1707: Good news. If you give this page a manual refresh, you will get rid of the mass of full-time graphics I added in error earlier and, even better, allow you to watch the Championship showdown between Burnley v Preston (if you're in the UK) right here on this website. You can also watch it on BBC Two if you want. NickMotown on Twitter: "Blackpool the only side to have kept a clean sheet today. Fantastic effort considering what Newcastle did to Villa at home." 1704: Let's try to pick the bones out of that little lot then. Chelsea's win over rivals West Ham keeps their 100% winning record intact, but what was your performance of the day? Everton's last-gasp fightback, Blackpool's win at Newcastle, or something else? Full time 1656: FULL-TIME Arsenal 4-1 Bolton 1656: FULL-TIME Newcastle 0-2 Blackpool 1656: FULL-TIME Man City 1-1 Blackburn From RoberTncUSA on 606: "City might get knocked for their performance today, but Blackburn played great, marking City at all spots over the pitch.. Big Sam is a vastly underrated manager." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Wigan goal: They left it late but Wigan salvaged a draw to pick up their first home point of the season. Debutant Tom Cleverley blasts a volley goalward and Paraguay international Antolin Alcaraz stoops to angle a header beyond Simon Mignolet. 1656: FULL-TIME Fulham 2-1 Wolves Full time 1655: FULL-TIME Wigan 1-1 Sunderland 1655: FULL-TIME West Brom 1-1 Tottenham Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Fulham goal: Christophe Berra picks up his second yellow card of the game on the edge of the area and it quickly gets worse for Wolves as Moussa Dembele steps up to blast the resulting free-kick into the net. Full time 1653: FULL-TIME West Ham 1-3 Chelsea 1652: GOALFLASH Fulham 2-1 Wolves (Dembele) 1651: RED CARD Wolves' Christophe Berra 1650: Somehow, Blackburn survive. Carlos Tevez takes the ball past Paul Robinson with a flick header but Gael Givet denies him on the line with a vital last-gasp tackle before Chris Samba's block tackle does a similar job on Jo. Still all square. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Blackpool goal: The Seasiders seem to have sealed the points, with DJ Campbell finding the net at last. Charlie Adam was involved, and it was his flick that gave Campbell the space to turn the ball home. 1647: GOALFLASH Wigan 1-1 Sunderland (Alcaraz) 1647: GOALFLASH Newcastle 0-2 Blackpool (Campbell) Goooooooaaaaaaaaal West Ham goal: The Hammers have not had much to celebrate today but Scott Parker has just given their fans something to smile about with a peach of a finish. A corner is cleared to Parker on the edge of the box, and he volleys it straight back into the top corner. Quality. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Chelsea goal: It looks like four wins our of four for Chelsea, and four defeats out of four for West Ham. Paulo Ferreira bends over an enticing cross from the right and Michael Essien rises above Tal Ben Haim to head home his second goal of the game. 1643: GOALFLASH West Ham 1-3 Chelsea (Parker) 1641: GOALFLASH West Ham 0-3 Chelsea (Essien) Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Arsenal goal: Gunners substitute Carlos Vela makes it four, and that is the 1001st goal that Arsenal have scored under Arsene Wenger (I forgot to mention it for the last one!). Cesc Fabregas made it, clipping a perfect ball over the top for Vela to slot into the net. 1640: GOALFLASH Arsenal 4-1 Bolton (Vela) Numbers Ian's Football League updates: "Championship leaders QPR are now 3-0 up on Middlesbrough while Cardiff and Millwall, both hot on their heels, still lead their respective games against Hull and Nottingham Forest 1-0 and Leeds and Watford have overturned half-time deficits to lead Swansea and Doncaster. In League One, Carlisle are still 1-0 up at Sheffield Wednesday while managerless Southampton are losing 1-0 at Swindon, who beat them in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy less than two weeks ago, and Exeter are being rewarded for their long trip to Hartlepool by leading 3-2. In League Two, leaders Shrewsbury are now 2-0 down at winless Gillingham, while the bottom two Macclesfield and Morecambe are also winning against Wycombe and Chesterfield." 1639: Man City are throwing everything at this in search of a winner, and Jo has just seen a shot palmed wide after he sprinted clear. Still, Blackburn are threatening too and it took a good save from Joe Hart to deny Nikola Kalinic at his near post. All to play for. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Arsenal goal: That should be the points in the bag for Arsene Wenger's side, with Alex Song rounding off a crisp passing move that involved Cesc Fabregas and Andrei Arshavin with a low finish. Still, let's not speak too soon. Remember Everton's late, late fightback earlier on today? 1635: GOALFLASH Arsenal 3-1 Bolton (Alex Song) 1634: Robbie Keane is on for Tottenham now, and the ex-Wolves and Coventry man was greeted by a chorus of boos when he replaced Roman Pavlyuchenko. Spurs are not creating an awful lot at the moment though. teddifer on Twitter: "Are people forgetting that Chelsea haven't really had a challenge yet? Let's reserve judgement until they play a tough game." 1631: Gareth Barry sees his curling shot turned round the post by Paul Robinson. I wouldn't exactly say Blackburn are hanging on, but Manchester City are very much on top at the moment. 1630: Wondering what's happening at Upton Park? Not an awful lot. West Ham are much improved in the second half, with substitute Kieron Dyer adding some much-needed pace. But Chelsea still look most likely to score and Didier Drogba has just forced Rob Green into a sprawling save. Anon via text: "Re Anon on Chelsea. That's not really the point, the class that Chelsea have shown in beating all those teams has been exceptional and on the 25th September at Man City is where the real test will start." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Sunderland goal: Wow. Quite a start for £13m Sunderland new-boy Asamoah Gyan, who volleys home Jordan Henderson's precise cross from the right-flank and puts the 10-men Black Cats ahead. 1625: GOALFLASH Wigan 0-1 Sunderland (Gyan) Red card Bolton red card: Gary Cahilldives in wildly on Marouane Chamakh out on the touchline and I don't think he can have too many complaints after being shown a straight red card. Bolton are up against it now. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Arsenal goal: Marouane Chamakh, who had just been denied by a brilliant save from debutant goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, gets the ball in the net some 30 seconds later from the resulting corner, heading in Cesc Fabregas's bye-line cross from the edge of the six-yard box. 1621: RED CARD Bolton's Gary Cahill 1619: Another good save by Blackpool goalkeeper Matty Gilks keeps Newcastle at bay, this time denying Joey Barton who had burst into the area. And Fulham have a had a big penalty shout turned down by referee Phil Dowd. Simon Davies went down in the area after trying to round Marcus Hahnemann but Dowd was having none of it. Anon via text "Re chay0251 on Twitter: Chelsea's games so far: West Brom, Wigan, Stoke, West Ham. Hardly Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool is it?" Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Man City goal: Seconds after Paul Robinson denies Adam Johnson, City are level. Patrick Vieira rolls back the years by collecting the ball in midfield and striding forwards before feeding Carlos Tevez on the right. When Tevez crosses, Vieira is there to smash the ball in from close range. 1615: GOALFLASH Arsenal 2-1 Bolton (Chamakh) 1614: GOALFLASH Man City 1-1 Blackburn (Vieira) 1613: Newcastle are pressing too but Andy Carroll spurns the chance to add to his four goals this season, taking too long when through to the left of goal and allowing Matty Gilks to save at his feet. Numbers Ian's Football League updates: "Big goal at the start of the second half as Heidar Helguson converts a penalty to put Championship leaders QPR 1-0 up at home to Middlesbrough." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Fulham goal: The Cottagers have come out strongly since the restart and they are quickly level. A cross from the left falls for Moussa Dembele, who sends in a fizzing shot that takes a deflection on its way into the bottom corner of the net. 1610: GOALFLASH Fulham 1-1 Wolves (Dembele) 1608: A decent chance for Tottenham. Gareth Bale runs through after a sweeping move but his shot pushed away by Scott Carson. 1606: It has all gone very quiet at Eastlands, where Blackburn have just threatened again. Yaya Toure's backpass is woefully underhit and Joe Hart only just reaches it before Nikola Kalinic. 1604: New £13m striker Asamoah Gyan is coming on for Sunderland, replacing Danny Welbeck. Let's see if he can bring his World Cup form to Wigan... 1603: We're waiting to get started at Upton Park and the DW Stadium. Everyone else is back under way. 1601: Right then. Work to do for, among others, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City in the second half. Fulham, Newcastle and West Ham need to improve too. chay0251 on Twitter: "Should we all now give up and say Chelsea it's yours and we'll all fight for second place and lower?" Numbers Ian's Football League updates: "Half-time around the grounds and the main headlines from the divisions are as follows. In the Championship, leaders QPR are being held 0-0 by Middlesbrough while Cardiff lead Hull 1-0 and struggling Bristol City are 1-0 up at Scunthorpe. In the battle of the top two in League One, it's second-placed Carlisle who lead 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday while Rochdale and Walsall are sharing four goals, Yeovil are three-up on Tranmere and the division's top scorer Josh McQuoid is on target against Dagenham & Redbridge for his fifth of the season. In League Two, Rotherham's Adam Le Fondre has hit his sixth of the season as his side lead Burton 3-0, leaders Shrewsbury are trailing at Gillingham and Macclesfield, 23rd in the table, are 2-0 up at Wycombe." Half time HALF-TIME Arsenal 1-1 Bolton
Pranav Soneji's one-line HT report: "For all their slick passing and eye-catching movement, Arsenal have been undone by some seriously inadequate defending. Not that Bolton care, latching on to their one - and only - chance of the half. Arsene Wenger will not be showing his pearly whites at half-time." Half time HALF-TIME Wigan 0-0 Sunderland
Les Roopanarine's one-line HT report: "Despite enjoying the luxury of playing with an extra man following Lee Cattermole's dismissal, Wigan have struggled to create clear-cut chances while Sunderland remain dangerous on the counter. Still, this is a golden opportunity for the Latics to win back-to-back matches for the first time in over three years." Half time HALF-TIME Fulham 0-1 Wolves
James Standley's one-line HT report: "Wolves will be by far the happier of the two teams at Craven Cottage, with Fulham still trying to come to terms with the loss of striker Bobby Zamora to injury, and Jelle van Damme's early strike for the visitors." Half time HALF-TIME West Ham 0-2 Chelsea
Sam Sheringham's one-line HT report: "Men against boys at Upton Park, West Ham's diamond formation playing into Chelsea's hands, Avram Grant's expression even glummer than usual" Half time HALF-TIME Newcastle 0-1 Blackpool
Jon Barbuti's one-line HT report: "Blackpool probably just deserve the lead against Newcastle after creating the better chances in a disjoined first half. Newcastle can only improve after the break." Half time HALF-TIME West Brom 1-1 Tottenham
Jamie Lillywhite's one-line HT report: "A bright start for Spurs with new man Rafael van der Vaart influential early on, but West Brom hit back and with Spurs losing the initiative, the home side are justifiably level at the break." From LB via text "Lee Cattermole is a hazard. He hasn't learnt his lesson and yet again he's let us down. Sick of it. Potential to be a great player but I'd say he's only going to play 25 games a season because he gets sent off 4 times he's no use to anyone. Not happy." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Bolton goal: Unbelievable - Arsenal concede just minutes before half-time after completely dominating the first half at the Emirates. An innocuous high-ball is headed into the path of Lee Chong-Yong by Laurent Koscielny. The South Korea international admirably keeps his composure as he is forced to the bye-line, sending over a perfect left-footed cross for Johan Elmander to nod into the net from six yards. That's the Swede's third goal of the season. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Blackpool goal: Referee Lee Mason points to the spot when Alan Smith fells Luke Varney inside the area and Charlie Adam coolly slots home the resulting penalty. The Blackpool players celebrate by hoisting a shirt with Seasiders youth coach Gary Parkinson's name on it - he is recovering from a stroke. 1545: GOALFLASH Newcastle 0-1 Blackpool (Adam pen) 1544: GOALFLASH Arsenal 1-1 Bolton (Elmander) From Torminator_YNWA on 606: "Oh my word. get better soon Bobby Zamora. looked a TERRIBLE injury. Just hope it doesn't end his career because he is finally looking the top player he always was." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal West Brom goal: Carlo Cudicini does well to keep out a fierce drive by Marc-Antoine Fortune at his near post but the ball is quickly looped back across the face of goal to the far post where Chris Brunt gets above of Gareth Bale to turn the ball in from point-blank range. 1541: GOALFLASH West Brom 1-1 Tottenham (Brunt) 1540: Man City are seeing plenty of the ball at Eastlands, but Blackburn are defending in numbers. Rovers are making a change too, Ryan Nelsen is injured and Martin Olsson is on. Text in your views on 81111 (UK) or +44 7786200666 (worldwide) From Rob in Derby via text Avram Grant said the way to beat Chelsea is to keep the ball away from them and frustrate them early on and try to score first. West Ham could not have done the opposite more, even if they all came out with deckchairs and newspapers. 1536: More chances at St James' Park to tell you about. DJ Campbell finally gets the ball in the net for Blackpool at St James' Park, but the flag rightly goes up for offside. Play immediately switches to the other end, where a Kevin Nolan shot is beaten away by Gilks. Someone has struck the woodwork 1534: West Ham may have been threatening a bit of fightback at Upton Park but Chelsea have just gone very close to adding a third goal. Jon Obi Mikel lets fly with a rasping 30-yard shot when a corner is half-cleared, and it smashes against the angle of post and bar. 1533: It's not all going Tottenham's way at the Hawthorns. They still lead 1-0 but goalscorer Luka Modric has picked up a knock and Niko Kranjcar is on instead. 1532: A couple of decent chances for West Ham at Upton Park. First, A clever chip from Carlton Cole finds his strike partner Victor Obinna in space inside the box but the Nigerian's side-foot volley is a yard wide. Then, Obinna cuts in from the left and fires narrowly wide. Numbers Ian's Football League updates: "The goals are also flying in in the Football League today. In the Championship, Swansea, Millwall and Bristol City are all winning on the road at Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Scunthorpe respectively while Cardiff are ahead at home to Hull. Away leads are also the order of the day in League One with Exeter one-up at Hartlepool (surely the day's longest journey) and Huddersfield, Oldham and Walsall leading at Leyton Orient, Peterborough and Rochdale while Yeovil are two-up on Tranmere. Also busy in League Two with Macclesfield the only visitors in front - 2-0 up at Wycombe - and Crewe, Gillingham, Lincoln, Port Vale and Rotherham leading Bury, Shrewsbury, Barnet, Aldershot and Burton." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Arsenal goal: Pandemonium in the visitors' box as Jack Wilshere's left-footed cross completely fools Bolton's flat-footed defenders, allowing the resourceful Marouane Chamakh to square the ball at the back post for Laurent Koscielny to tap in from close range - via a second deflection off Trotters goalkeeper Adam Bogdan - into an empty net. Ominous for the visitors. 1530: Newcastle are millimetres away from taking the lead against Blackpool. Joey Barton flights in a long free-kick given after a foul on the excellent Wayne Routledge, Mike Williamson rises above the defence but sees his header bounce clear off the post with Matt Gilks beaten. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Blackburn goal: What a mix-up at Eastlands. Blackburn's Morten Gamst Pedersen sends a hopeful long ball forward which City centre-back Kolo Toure leaves to keeper Joe Hart, who comes 25-yards out of his goal. But Hart misses clearing the ball and Nikola Kalinic steers a shot into an empty net. 1528: Bad news for Fulham. Bobby Zamora collapses in a heap after a challenge by Karl Henry and is being stretchered off. Looks like his right leg is the problem - he is being given oxygen. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Tottenham goal: A high cross is hoisted into the Baggies area, Roman Pavlyuchenko tussles for possession and the loose ball falls for Luka Modric to drill it into the net. 1526: GOALFLASH West Brom 0-1 Tottenham (Modric)
1524: GOALFLASH Manchester City 0-1 Blackburn (Kalinic)
1523: GOALFLASH Arsenal 1-0 Bolton (Koscielny) Red card Sunderland red card: A second dismissal of the season for Lee Cattermole, who also had an early bath on the opening day of the season. Seconds after he clattered Mohamed Diame, he takes out Hugo Rodallega, and is given his marching orders. 1523: RED CARD Sunderland's Lee Cattermole 1522: Chelsea continue to pour forward at Upton Park. The Hammers are caught in possession and Salomon Kalou runs to the edge of the box before seeing his low shot deflected wide. The Blues are completely dominant here. 1521: We've just had the biggest cheer of the afternoon so far at the DW Stadium, where Wigan old boy Lee Cattermole has been booked for a foul on Mohamed Diame. Old habits die hard, I guess. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Chelsea goal: Poor goalkeeping and bad luck sees West Ham concede again. Rob Green spills a Didier Drogba free-kick, Matthew Upson tries to clear the loose ball but sees it cannon off Salomon Kalou and loop into the net. Total calamity for the Hammers. 1518: GOALFLASH West Ham 0-2 Chelsea (Kalou) 1517: Wigan have started the stronger at the DW Stadium, where Sunderland right-back Nedum Onuhua, on loan from Manchester City, has had his work cut out against Mohamed Diame and Hugo Rodallega, both of whom have gone close for the Latics. 1515: Adam Johnson is a man in form, and just gone close again for Man City. He exchanges passes with James Milner, sprints down the right wing, then cuts inside before curling a shot inches wide of the far post. That was close. 1513: Another chance for DJ Campbell - who should really have put Blackpool ahead at Newcastle. Played through by Charlie Adam with only the goalkeeper Steve Harper to beat, the striker is thwarted by a double save. BBC Sport's David Dulin at Elland Road: "Swansea's defence has been the busier in the opening stages but Leeds are yet to have a shot on target. Luciano Becchio is looking particularly lively for the home side." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Wolves goal: Kevin Doyle plays a clever ball over the top of the Fulham defence and Jelle van Damme is unmarked at the back-post to steer a first-time finish into the net. Numbers Ian on the Football League: "Possibly the quickest goal of the day goes to Rotherham's Kevin Ellison who strikes after just 55 seconds against Burton Albion in League Two. 1510: GOALFLASH Fulham 0-1 Wolves (Van Damme) 1508: Arsenal have had an early opening too. A wonderful through-ball from the outside of Tomas Rosicky's right boot carves open Bolton's defence like a skilled surgeon, allowing Andrei Arshavin a clear run at goal with only debutant Adam Bogdan to beat. But the Hungarian goalkeeper races off his line and Arshavin shoots straight at him. Chance gone. 1507: Rafael van der Vaart is seeing plenty of the ball on his Tottenham debut and has just teed up Aaron Lennon, who sent a shot fizzing over the bar from just inside the area. A decent start for the Dutchman. Everton manager David Moyes on his side's dramatic fightback to draw with Manchester United: "We gave Manchester United I felt the opportuties to score and they took them. The goalkeeper (Tim Howard) was fantastic we could have lost but for him but the players were excellent. I think what you saw is what we have an abundance of... we try to keep going." Numbers Ian's Football League updates: "The second result of the day in the Championship sees Sheffield United collect their first away win of the season with a 1-0 triumph at Derby thanks to an early goal from Richard Cresswell." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Chelsea goal: Can someone tell the West Ham defence that this game has started. Didier Drogba sends over a corner and Michael Essien rises unmarked to head home, despite the best efforts of Carlton Cole to keep the ball out.
1503: GOALFLASH West Ham 0-1 Chelsea (Essien) 1502: Manchester City clear their lines after an almighty goalmouth scramble, and break forward to the other end where Paul Robinson does well to deny Adam Johnson. At St James' Park, DJ Campbell has just gone close with an overhead kick for Blackpool. We are under way at Upton Park and the DW Stadium. 1500: We're under way at St James' Park and at The Hawthorns... and at Eastlands, The Emirates and Craven Cottage too. 1458: Everton midfielder Tim Cahill after his side score twice in injury-time to clinch a remarkable 3-3 draw with Manchester United: "It's quite unreal, if you look at the chances we gave away and missed, it was probably a fair result. It shows the fight we have." 1457: Fulham v Wolves team news
James Standley reports: "Bobby Zamora starts up front for Fulham after shaking off his thigh injury but the Londoners will be without Damien Duff. The Irishman failed a fitness test on a calf injury but Mark Schwarzer returns in goal having recovered from his back problem. Wolves include loan signing Marcus Bent on the bench, with David Jones making way for Michael Mancienne in the starting line-up." 1456: Newcastle v Blackpool team news
Jon Barbuti reports:"Newcastle go with the 11 that have started their three previous Premier League games this campaign, meaning that defender Sol Campbell, who played for the reserves midweek, and new signing Hatem Ben Arfa have to make do with places on the bench. Blackpool welcome back DJ Campbell, who signed a permanent deal on transfer deadline day having played for the Tangerines on loan last season, scoring a hat-trick in the Championship play-off semi-final. Defenders Neil Eardley and Dekel Keinan also come in, Alex Baptiste, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Craig Cathcart missing out from the side that drew 2-2 against Fulham last time out." 1455: Arsenal v Bolton team news
Pranav Soneji reports: "If mythological Greek hero Achillies ever returned to this mortal world decked in an Arsenal kit, it wouldn't be his heel strapped up like a wounded solider. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has lost strikers Theo Walcott and Robin van Persie to ankle injuries with neither player likely to feature for at least a month. And with no Niklas Bendtner to call upon, Marouane Chamakh looks set to lead the striking line against Bolton at the Emirates with Andrei Arshavin offering support. Meanwhile, France international Sebastien Squillaci will make his Arsenal debut in defence because Thomas Vermaelen has been sidelined by an, ahem, Achilles injury. The sight of the red half of north London might send Bolton manager Owen Coyle to the hills - the Scot lost twice in three days to the Gunners at the start of the year in his first matches in charge at the Reebok Stadium. However, the Trotters are unbeaten this season although ever reliable goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen is suspended, so Adam Bogdan makes his first Premier League start." 1453: Wigan v Sunderland team news
Les Roopanarine reports: "Wigan boss Roberto Martinez keeps faith with the same side that claimed the club's first ever win at Tottenham last time out. But the Spaniard's Sunderland counterpart, Steve Bruce, makes two changes to the team that handed Manchester City their first defeat of the season a fortnight ago. Nedum Onuhua returns in defence, while Danny Welbeck replaces the injured Fraizer Campbell in attack, which means that record signing Asamoah Gyan has to be content with a place on the bench." 1453: Wigan v Sunderland teams
Wigan: Al Habsi, Stam, Gohouri, Alcaraz, Figueroa, Thomas, McCarthy, Diame, Boyce, Boselli, Rodallega. Subs: Kirkland, Di Santo, Watson, N'Zogbia, Steven Caldwell, Gomez, Cleverley.

Sam Sheringham reports: "Avram Grant hands debuts to new signings, right-back Lars Jacobsen and striker Victor Obinna, as the Hammers go in search of their first points of the season. Chelsea call on Brazilian playmaker Ramires for the first time in place of the injured Frank Lampard. Captain John Terry has recovered from a hamstring complaint to make his 300th Premier League start alongside Branislav Ivanovic, who is preferred to Alex. Salomon Kalou gets the nod ahead of Florent Malouda in attack. " 1451: West Ham v Chelsea teams

Referee: Chris Foy (Merseyside) Numbers Ian: "With the early kick-offs nearly out of the way in the Championship, a quick look ahead to the 3pm games. The pick of the bunch appears to be leaders QPR's match with struggling Middlesbrough while don't forget that from 5pm you can watch Burnley v Preston (kick-off 5.15pm) live on BBC2 and this website (UK users only). The big game in League One sees leaders Sheffield Wednesday entertain second-placed Carlisle while in League Two leaders Shrewsbury travel to Gillingham, who are in 21st place." 1449: Newcastle v Blackpool teams

Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire) 1445: Man City v Blackburn team news
Mandeep Sanghera reports: "Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez passes a late fitness test and plays. There are two changes from the defeat by Sunderland as Patrick Vieira and Shaun Wright-Phillips start, with Gareth Barry dropping to the bench and Nigel De Jong missing out altogther. Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce keeps faith with the side that were beaten by Arsenal last time out as on-loan Manchester United forward Mame Biram Diouf starts. Former Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwari is on the bench." 1444: Arsenal v Bolton
Arsenal: Almunia, Eboue, Koscielny, Squillaci, Gibbs, Song, Wilshere, Rosicky, Fabregas, Arshavin, Chamakh. Subs: Fabianski, Diaby, Sagna, Nasri, Vela, Denilson, Clichy.
Bolton: Bogdan, Steinsson, Knight, Cahill, Robinson, Lee, Muamba, Holden, Petrov, Kevin Davies, Elmander. Subs: Lainton, Taylor, Mark Davies, Klasnic, Ricketts, Blake, Andrew O'Brien.
Referee: Stuart Attwell (Warwickshire) BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Goodison Park: "You could sell tickets to be inside the Manchester United dressing room after Everton score twice in injury time to take a point. Sir Alex Ferguson and his team will be wondering how they have allowed victory to escape. Goodison Park is rocking after that stunning finale, for United it is the careless casting aside of victory. How wise does the decision not to play Wayne Rooney look now?" 1443: Angry Everton boss David Moyes ran on to the pitch at the final whistle, which I am told blew just before Phil Jagielka had that last shot. He felt Martin Atkinson ended the game too soon. I'm still getting my breath back. Full time 1440: FULL-TIME Everton 3-3 Man Utd 93 mins: Things almost got even worse for United. Everton break forward from a corner, and they have men over. Phil Jagielka picks up the ball on the right-hand side of the area but his shot is saved by Edwin van der Sar. This is some finish. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Everton goal: I don't believe it. Tim Cahill heads down a cross from the left, into the path of Mikel Arteta, whose shot hits Paul Scholes and flies into the bottom corner. 92 mins: Everton 3-3 Man Utd (Arteta) Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Everton goal: Hope for Everton. Leighton Baines swings over a cross from the left and Tim Cahill rises unmarked to steer home the header. 91 mins: Everton 2-3 Man Utd (Cahill) 90 mins: It won't come as any surprise to you that it's all a bit quiet at Goodison right now. The home side will have three minutes of added time to try to salvage something from this one. 1433: West Brom v Tottenham teams
West Brom: Carson, Jara, Tamas, Olsson, Shorey, Mulumbu, Odemwingie, Scharner, Brunt, Thomas, Fortune. Subs: Myhill, Tchoyi, Pablo, Barnes, Bednar, Reid, Cox.
Tottenham: Cudicini, Corluka, Kaboul, Gallas, Bale, Lennon, Palacios, Huddlestone, Van der Vaart, Modric, Pavlyuchenko. Subs: Pletikosa, Jenas, Keane, Crouch, Bassong, Kranjcar, Assou-Ekotto.
Referee: Howard Webb (S Yorkshire) 1432: West Ham v Chelsea (1500 BST KO)
Sam Sheringham reports: "It's bottom against top at Upton Park with Avram Grant pitting his West Ham strugglers against the club he steered to the Champions League final. Defending champions Chelsea have scored an incredible 32 goals since conceding in the Premier League and will confident of maintaining their 100% start to the season against a Hammers side whose only goal has come from the penalty spot. West Ham have not beaten Chelsea since May 2003 and you would get long odds on a home win here." 86 mins: Hmmm. It's United who are looking more likely to score again as we move into the final few minutes of this game. Dimitar Berbatov has just set up Nani, who screws his shot wide when he was probably better off trying to cross for a team-mate. AndySzpuk on Twitter: "Re 66 mins. How many times have United won following a Gary Neville back-heel in his own half?!" Numbers Ian: "Full-time at the Ricoh Arena and it's a point apiece for Coventry and Leicester after a 1-1 draw. The result takes Coventry into the play-off zone for now but leaves Leicester in the bottom three." 1428: West Brom v Tottenham team newsJamie Lillywhite reports: "William Gallas makes his Spurs debut alongside Younes Kaboul in central defence but is not captain, that honour falling to Tom Huddlestone. Rafeel van der Vaart also makes his Tottenham bow, playing just behind lone striker Roman Pavlyuchenko, while Luka Modric moves to the left side of midfield and Gareth Bale drops back to the left full-back role." 1426: Man City v Blackburn teams
Man City: Hart, Richards, Toure, Kompany, Lescott, Wright-Phillips, Toure Yaya, Milner, Vieira, Adam Johnson, Tevez. Subs: Given, Zabaleta, Santa Cruz, Barry, Silva, Jo, Boyata.
Blackburn: Robinson, Salgado, Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Mame Diouf, Jones, Grella, Pedersen, El-Hadji Diouf, Kalinic. Subs: Bunn, Olsson, Emerton, Dunn, Nzonzi, Mwaruwari, Chimbonda. Referee: Mark Clattenburg (Tyne & Wear) 81 mins: Manchester United are making a change now too. Ji-Sung Park is on for Patrice Evra, who has not had the greatest game of his career. 1424: West Brom v Tottenham (1500 BST KO)Jamie Lillywhite reports: "Spurs fans arriving at a sunny Hawthorns not only had to consider a poor record against some lesser sides (Wolves and Stoke last season, now Wigan already this term - all at home, admittedly) but how they would react to the prospect of William Gallas - a man they previously placed in a category reserved for the likes of Osama bin Laden (another with Arsenal connections) - taking the captain's armband. Meanwhile the altruistic Baggies fans have unfurled a banner celebrating their new Nigerian forward Osaze Odemwingie, in direct response to a nonsensical and racist rag displayed by fans of his former club Lokomotiv Moscow." 78 mins: Everton are running out of time here, and they have just wasted a glorious chance to pull a goal back. Yakubu's run took him across the face of goal before the ball broke for Leon Osman, who is clean through but can only shoot weakly and straight at Edwin van der Sar. He had to do better from there. 1422: Fulham v Wolves (1500 BST KO)
James Standley reports: "Both Fulham and Wolves go into the game at Craven Cottage unbeaten with the visitors riding high in seventh place, two points and seven places clear of their West London hosts. Fulham are hoping England contender Bobby Zamora, fresh from signing a new four-year deal, shakes off his thigh injury to provide their attacking thrust. Despite their elevated position Wolves have managed only seven shots on target, the joint lowest in the league, and have committed more fouls than any other side with 55." 75 mins: Paul Scholes has put in another vintage performance today, but he can't cap it with a goal (well, not yet anyway). He's just had a pop here, after exchanging passes with Nani, but couldn't find the target. 1420: Wigan v Sunderland (1500 BST KO)
Les Roopanarine reports: "Wigan are nothing if not unpredictable. In their first two Premier League outings at the JJB Stadium this season, they shipped 10 goals without reply; then they went to upwardly-mobile Tottenham and won 1-0. How they'll fare against a Sunderland side which could feature new £13m signing Asamoah Gyan is anybody's guess. Mind you, having lost to West Brom and beaten Manchester City in their last two league games, Sunderland are no strangers to the unexpected result themselves. Expect a rollercoaster of an afternoon." 73 mins: Er, I think that was a shot by Marouane Fellaini, although it only just went out for a goal-kick rather than a throw-in. He was in quite a useful position too, on the left-hand side of the six-yard box. 71 mins: Not sure how Patrice Evra escaped a booking there. He slips, then throws himself in the path of Seamus Coleman as he advances to the edge of the area. Leighton Baines takes the resulting free-kick, and curls it narrowly wide. BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Goodison Park: "Manchester United have carried the greater threat all afternoon and Berbatov's goal was a masterpiece of technique, from the pass by Scholes to the control and finish from the Bulgarian. Everton have shown moments of quality, but once again struggle to find end product." 69 mins: Some decent pressure by Everton, but they cannot force a shot on goal. Time for a change by Toffees boss David Moyes: Yakubu and Seamus Coleman are on for Tony Hibbert and Johnny Heitinga. Numbers Ian: "There's been another goal in the Championship and it's gone to Leicester, who have equalised at Coventry through Andy King with a shot from inside the area. There's about 10 minutes to go in that game. Meanwhile in the 1.00 kick-off it's still Derby 0-1 Sheffield United." Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Man Utd goal: A great move this, starting with a back-heel by Gary Neville in his own half. Paul Scholes hoists a long ball forward and, when Sylvain Distin makes a mess of it, Dimitar Berbatov collects and buries the ball into the bottom corner. 66 mins: GOALFLASH Everton 1-3 Man Utd (Berbatov) 64 mins: Man Utd break forward quickly, and almost score a third goal. Dimitar Berbatov runs forward down the right and his cross finds Nani, whose shot is pushed away by Tim Howard. Ryan Giggs fancies the rebound, but Tony Hibbert is there to slide the ball clear. 62 mins: Steven Pienaar has been very impressive for Everton today, and he's just brought a decent stop from Edwin van der Sar. Pienaar tries to curl the ball into the top corner but the Man Utd keeper is across to comfortably pick it out of the air. 1405: Newcastle v Blackpool (1500 BST KO)
Jon Barbuti reports: "Last season Blackpool lost 10 more times than Newcastle, secured 32 fewer points and got hammered 4-1 at St James' Park. None of that mattered though as they joined the Toon in winning promotion to the Premier League - even getting a nice day out at Wembley in the process. This season things look more evenly matched, both teams have handed out one thrashing and suffered at the hands of a "big-four club" in picking up four points. However the bookies have Newcastle as odds-on favourites to record a win that would tie league meetings between the clubs at 22 victories apiece." 60 mins: Man Utd are playing a bit of keep-ball now, and trying to take the sting out of this game. We've got just over half-an-hour left for Everton to try to force an equaliser. 56 mins: Better by Everton. Steven Pienaar finds Leon Osman on the edge of the box but his control is not quite tight enough and Nemanja Vidic clears. Here's a stat on Vidic from Infostrada Sports: Manchester United have previously won all nine Premier League matches in which he has scored. 54 mins: Nemanja Vidic is on the deck after tangling with Tim Cahill. I think he got an arm in the face, although it was unintentional. Those two have been having a bit of a battle today. Yellow card 50 mins: So, the perfect start to the second half for United... but a nightmare scenario for Everton. Johnny Heitinga shows his frustration by barging into Gary Neville, and is rightly shown a yellow card. Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Man Utd goal: United come forward straight from the restart... and are ahead before many fans in the stands are back in their seats. A corner is not properly cleared and Nani loops over an enticing cross from the right that is headed home by Nemanja Vidic from close range. Unstoppable. 47 mins: GOALFLASH Everton 1-2 Man Utd (Vidic) 1350: Here we go then. Manchester United get the second half started. No changes from either side at half-time. 1345: Manchester City v Blackburn (1500 BST KO)
Mandeep Sanghera reports: "Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has had two weeks to stew on his side's injury-time defeat by Sunderland and will be aiming to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since taking over the Blue Moon helm last December. Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce says he himself wants to avoid three consecutive defeats since he took charge of Rovers and he could have ex-City striker Benjani Mwaruwari in his side. Benjani claims some of City's players are primarily motivated by money and Blackburn are sure to test out if Mancini's troops have the heart and skill to go with their cash." 1344: BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Goodison Park: "David Moyes' concern at half-time will be a familiar one. Everton have been inventive in possession but have hardly worked Manchester United keeper Edwin van der Sar. Tim Howard, in contrast, has made two outstanding saves from Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. United may not be dominating but they currently carry a much greater threat." mUtEl0_PR on Twitter: "If Utd win this, can we assume they will win the title Chris? I think yes."

Erm, Since when does beating Everton mean a team wins the title? Blackburn and Aston Villa have already done it this season, for a start...

Half time 1333: HALF-TIME Everton 1-1 Man Utd 46 mins: United almost delivered one there, actually. A deep cross from the left finds Dimitar Berbatov running into the area, and his sweet volley whistles about an inch wide of Tim Howard's post. That was close. 45 mins: We're going to have two minutes of added time. Time for another goal or two, surely? Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Man Utd goal: Everton's lead lasts just over three minutes. A quick free-kick finds Nani on the right, and his cross is met by Darren Fletcher at the far post. All-square, and probably a fair reflection of what has been an entertaining game.
43 mins: GOALFLASH Everton 1-1 Man Utd (Fletcher) Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Everton goal: Just when United seemed to be upping the ante, Everton take the lead. A dreadful mistake by Patrice Evra sees him miss the ball completely on the half-way line and Mikel Arteta runs through on goal. His shot is well saved by Edwin van der Sar but the loose ball runs to Leon Osman, who has the presence of mind to find Steven Pienaar in front of goal to slot the ball home. 40 mins: GOALFLASH Everton 1-0 Man Utd (Pienaar) 39 mins: Tim Howard saves Everton again. This time Ryan Giggs sees his shot kept out from point-blank range. 38 mins: It's all happening at Goodison Park. Tony Hibbert has had to change his shorts (not sure why) and Mikel Arteta crashes a free-kick into the wall and then fouls Ryan Giggs as he tries to break clear. Numbers Ian: There's two Football League going on at the moment, both in the Championship, and there have been goals in both games. Coventry are ahead at Leicester, after substitute Michael McIndoe delivers a superb left wing cross and Clive Platt powerfully heads home his first goal for the club. And Sheffield United lead Derby after good work from Jamie Ward sets up Richard Cresswell who pokes the ball past Stephen Bywater to put the Blades ahead. 33 mins: Clever stuff by United, and a brilliant save by Tim Howard. Nani rolls the free-kick into the path of Paul Scholes, who smashes in a low drive that hits at least one defender but is somehow kept out by the outstretched leg of Howard, who cannot have seen much of the ball. 32 mins: Man Utd's turn to have a free-kick in a dangerous position. Tony Hibbert slides in on Ryan Giggs on the edge of the area and referee Martin Atkinson decides he got more of the man than the ball. 29 mins: Another chance for Everton. The ball drops for Leighton Baines on the edge of the box but he rather rushes his shot and scuffs it wide. He had time to take a touch or two. Good news for United - Nani is back on the field. 27 mins: There's bit of discussion currently going on BBC Radio 5 Live about Sir Alex Ferguson's explanation about Wayne Rooney's omission today (see 1239ish). Surely that means that, wherever Rooney might get stick in the future, he might not play? Interesting. Anyway, back on the pitch, Leighton Baines crosses for Marouane Fellaini but Nemanja Vidic puts in a timely tackle as the Belgian shapes to shoot. 26 mins: Er no, not yet anyway. Tim Cahill lets fly from 30 yards out but the ball flies harmlessly over the bar. 24 mins: United are briefly down to 10 men because Nani is having a spot of treatment - to a cut lip, I think. Can Everton capitalise? 21 mins: Everton are still having their fair share of possession, mind, but they are not hurting United so much anymore. Mikel Arteta whips in a free-kick from out on the right but United clear their lines. 18 mins: Man Utd threaten again, with a delicious cross by Dimitar Berbatov touched into the path of Nani by Ryan Giggs. Leighton Baines nips in to clear for Everton. Someone has struck the woodwork 15 mins: I was just about to say United haven't got going yet, but they have now. A decent spell of pressure by the visitors ends with a thunderous shot from John O'Shea from the left-hand side of the area. Tim Howard is nowhere near it, but it smacks the angle of post and bar. A great effort. 11 mins: From the corner, the ball falls for Steven Pienaar inside the area but his shot is blocked and Leon Osman skies the follow-up a mile over the bar. Everton need to make this early pressure count. 10 mins: Man Utd come forward for the first time, through Nani on the right. He gets his cross over in the end, but it's behind his team-mates in the area and comes to nothing. At the other end, Everton work another shooting chance for Mikel Arteta, who sees his effort deflected behind for a corner. Someone has struck the woodwork 6 mins: Ooof, that was close. Mikel Arteta takes the free-kick and curls his shot goalwards. Edwin van der Sar is there anyhow but the ball skims off the top of the bar and referee Martin Atkinson awards a goal-kick after initially signalling for a corner. 5 mins: Everton are still seeing most of the ball, and Steven Pienaar is looking especially lively. He takes on Gary Neville about 30 yards from goal and is fouled. Everton have a free-kick in a very dangerous position... 2 mins: Neat stuff by Everton, with Steven Pienaar and Leighton Baines combining to give Pienaar a shooting chance in the area... Nemanja Vidic gets across to block the South African's shot. Edwin van der Sar easily collects the resulting corner. 1246: Everton get us under way. 1244: Here's another stat from Infostrada Sports before we get going: United's starting XI has an average age of 30 years and 277 days, which is the first time a team has averaged 30+ in this season's Premier League. It is also only the fifth time in their Premier League history that United have fielded a starting XI averaging over 30. Their oldest was 31 years and 103 days in last season's home defeat by Chelsea. 1243: The players emerge from the tunnel at a cloudy Goodison Park, although there are a couple of patches of blue sky up above. Kick-off is just a couple of minutes away.
1239: Infostrada Sports tell me that David Moyes is up against Sir Alex Ferguson for the 17th time in the Premier League today, the most by any Scottish manager (and one more than Gordon Strachan). How has Moyes got on so far? Er, not too well actually. Moyes has won two, drawn three and lost 11 of their encounters to date. He did come out on top at Goodison Park last season, though, when the Toffees won 3-1. From kinsang on 606: "Whilst Berbatov has made a good start to the season, I'm still not convinced the lone striker role is one that suits him, and I would have liked to have seen Owen up there with him. Looks like it's going to be a dour midfield battle, hope the likes of Scholes and Fletcher can come out on top and that Berbatov proves me wrong." Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson explains the omission of Wayne Rooney from his squad to face Everton: "We made the decision simply because Wayne gets terrible abuse here and we're not going to subject him to it. We have got a fantastic squad so we are using it. Wayne will play against Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday." 1229: Here's a bit more Everton team news for you. The Toffees have brought in Johny Heitinga and Leon Osman for Jack Rodwell and Jermaine Beckford. Rodwell is out for three months with an ankle injury of course. From stonecoldsober on 606: "Not confident of going into today's game. Everton is a tough place to go and we seem to be in a bit of a shambles." 1221: Everton v Man Utd team news
Phil McNulty reports: "Everton boss David Moyes has gone without a recognised striker in his team - an intriguing way to combat the chronic lack of goals that have undermined their start to the season. Plenty of threat provided by the likes of Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini though. No Rio Ferdinand for Manchester United, but Gary Neville is back. Michael Owen remains on the bench despite the very obvious absence of Wayne Rooney." Everton boss David Moyes on how he thinks a win over Manchester United could kick-start his side's season: "It would give us all that belief that we can mix it with the top sides. We feel if we play well we can be a match for any side, and that includes Manchester United. We went into the season with high hopes, rightly so, we had played so well." From Greg in Romsey via text: "United fan here. Isn't it refreshing to see seven 3pm kick offs on a Saturday afternoon, like the good old days! Anyway back to the early game, United to win 2-1 with player of the month Scholes getting the winner." 1210: No Rooney then, but there's plenty else going on today. After Everton take on Manchester United at 1245 BST, there are SEVEN Premier League games kicking off at 1500 BST as well as a full programme in the Football League. If that's not enough for you, there's a feisty-looking Lancashire derby in the Championship (I refuse to call it a hot-pot) between Burnley and Preston which you can watch live on BBC Two and this website (in the UK) at 1715 BST. Happy now? I thought so. 1208: BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Goodison Park: "Only one talking point at Goodison Park right now and that is Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to drop Wayne Rooney from his squad - presumably a reflection on the player's state of mind and the potentially rough ride he was going to get from the Everton fans who once idolised him. Big decision by Ferguson. Everton's main priority is trying to repeat their 3-1 win against United here last season to record their first Premier League win this term." 1207: Everton v Man Utd teams
Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Osman, Heitinga, Arteta, Pienaar, Fellaini, Cahill. Subs: Mucha, Bilyaletdinov, Beckford, Neville, Gueye, Yakubu, Coleman.
Man Utd: Van der Sar, Neville, Vidic, Jonathan Evans, Evra, Scholes, O'Shea, Fletcher, Nani, Berbatov, Giggs. Subs: Kuszczak, Owen, Smalling, Park, Rafael Da Silva, Macheda, Gibson.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire) 1204: Another man spared a hot reception at his former club today is Chelsea's Frank Lampard who, it is fair to say, would not win any popularity contests at Upton Park. Lampard misses out on the Blues' trip to West Ham because of injury but that should still be a feisty encounter, with added spice because it is top versus bottom. 1158: No reason has been given, as of yet, for Rooney's omission but people will no doubt assume it is because he was expected to be given a rough ride by Toffees fans today. I'll bring you more news when I get it. 1154: BREAKING NEWS Football Focus report Wayne Rooney left out of Manchester United's squad to face Everton 1151: At least Wayne Rooney won't be getting any stick off his own fans today. Spare a thought for Tottenham's William Gallas, whose arrival at White Hart Lane following his release by Arsenal in the summer has been so unpopular with supporters that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is considering making the French international captain for his debut at West Brom today, in order to send a clear message to his detractors. "I am deadly serious," said Redknapp. 1147: Er, I'm sure you know of one man who isn't.
