Birmingham City Manager Alex McLeish has revealed he was "inches away" from the signing of a contract for a new St Andrews.

Discussions to fresh deal with the club originally started the Midlands region a few months ago, but have taken hours to uvencaha.

McLeish has been rewarded by the Birmingham after impressive return to the Premier League final which saw the Club claiming the extremity of the top-10.

Blues have also benefited from the beginning of a new promotion campaign and McLeish has in the perspective of a final settlement of the matter of his contract.

"When the calls are inexpensive and I'm just inches away from the signing of a new contract," says McLeish, whose host Liverpool on Sunday.

"The figures and everything is fine, you just have to iron of rough edges.

"We are very close and there are only a few technicalities-clause for release and this kind of something more, but is not excessive in the two camps and is an absolute standard.

Orders are not something like talking to the public, but it is nice to get it resolved. "

McLeish concedes, it seems that negotiations take concluded by were originally expected.
