Steven Gerrard is a former Liverpool manager tipped Gerard Houllier to influence at Aston Villa.

The French will be formally naslov at a press conference at 2 p.m. on Friday, before taking the helm in the Villa Premier League clash at Stoke on Monday.

Gérard marked his debut a decade ago by Red Houllier and England captain was elevated 63-year-old who is staying in the six years of Anfield.

"You still have quite a close relationship with Gerard, he gave me my chance top level and certainly I learnt much from him," said Gerard.

"Aston Villa just Got a very good manager and I'm not surprised Gerard came back in the Premier League.

"I know how much he loves football.

"He was desperate to get back involved in the Premier League, so there is no surprise to me."

He added: "it was no surprise to me have been interested in it because it is Villa Senior Manager.

"We had a great year in 2001, he came and had to change nearly as many things in Liverpool and that is what he is good at.

"When he comes, he knows what he wants, and he knows how to get the winning team.

"That showed five trophies we won under it."

Houllier suffered health problems during the last part of his time of Merseyside, with his assistant, Phil Thompson, a spell in charge of a team.

But 30 years Gérard is a coach will not be hindered by such concerns at Villa adamant.

"I don't think health is a problem for Gerard," he adds.

"I saw It a few days at Jamie Carragher legacies of Anfield and he looked superb.

"It looked really healthy and fresh. It then asked him if he is interested in Aston Villa and said he was.

"You really do not think health will be a problem. I think it will be OK."
