Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe was deleted at least six weeks because of an ankle problem.
The 27-year-old suffered the injury in 3-1 victory in England by Switzerland on Tuesday and was taken.
"Even if it's a bad sprain, he will be out for about six weeks or so because it's a nasty," said the Tottenham Manager Harry Redknapp.
Defoe is likely to lose two Champions League Games for Spurs and England's euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro.
The time of injury is a real blow to the front, which has been in impressive form and scored a hat-trick of England 4-0 win against Bulgaria in opening qualifier last Friday.
And also is another slice of bad luck for the Tottenham and Redknapp because Centre-back Michael Dawson will be sidelined for eight weeks after suffering problems of ligaments of the knee and ankle in match against Bulgaria at Wembley.
Defoe was seen using crutches and wearing a protective boot on your right foot on the Spurs ' training camp on Thursday.
It is expected to miss four or five football matches and the Champions League ties against Werder Bremen and FC Twente.
In late August, Tottenham postponed plans Defoe submit groin surgery after he scored in 4-0 UEFA Champions League play-off win over Young Boys and then declared himself fit.
This meant that it was available for Euro 2012 opening qualifiers of England and the decision seemed to be a correct as Defoe excelled at Wembley, earning praise from coach Fabio Capello.
But Tottenham will now without Defoe to the beginning of his first UEFA Champions League campaign-a visit to the German side Werder Bremen on Tuesday--and he could be sidelined until late October.
England play Montenegro on October 12th and Capello will also have to find a replacement from Defoe.
